Alonso spoke about the issues with the seat in the Aston Martin.

Explaining the reason for Fernando Alonso's retirement in Canada, the press service attributed it to a problem with the seat, but later the Spaniard shared the details. It turned out that the issues had arisen early in the season, but at that time the car did not allow for a long distance due to strong vibrations, and now, when they managed to cope with the vibrations, it fully revealed itself. In recent years, constructors have been trying to position the seat as low as possible to optimize weight distribution and aerodynamics. Alonso felt uncomfortable in the AMR26 from the very beginning, and in Canada, during the Saturday sprint, he experienced serious physical discomfort. Before the race, the mechanics tried to adjust the seat position, but it didn't help – during the Sunday race, as his back started to hurt more and more, and with no hopes for points, Alonso decided to end the suffering and retire from the race. Fernando Alonso: "Due to the seat problem, I felt worse with every lap. The position in the race did not allow for hopes of points, we were far from the top ten, there was no chance of rain, so we decided to put an end to the suffering." Mike Krack, team principal: "Fernando has been uncomfortable in this seat for a long time, although the problem wasn't critical before. Then the pain appeared, and it kept getting worse. We probably need to reconsider his position a bit. In these cars, you try to seat the driver as low as possible; in recent years, they practically lie in the cockpit. Perhaps we have gone too far. I think we need to change the position a bit, go back to what it was before."
