For the first time this season, there will be no SM zones in Monaco.

In 2026, in Formula 1, the DRS zones were replaced by OT overtaking mode activation zones and SM (Straight Mode) zones, where active aerodynamics can be used. The SM zones are divided into two subsections – zones where active aerodynamics are used under normal tire grip conditions (the rear and front wings can be opened) and under reduced grip conditions (on a wet track, only the front wing can be opened). In the next stage of the season in Monaco, there will be no SM zones for the first time this year. This is indicated by the city circuit map published on the official Formula 1 website. Although in previous years, there was one DRS zone in Monaco located on the start straight. However, there will be one overtaking mode zone in Monaco. Being within one second of the opponent's car at the measurement point, the driver will be able to activate the overtaking mode, gaining an additional 0.5 MJ of electrical energy. In Monaco, the measurement point is located before the Rascasse corner, and activation occurs as the driver exits it, just before the final corner.
