Lando Norris: I am still a Formula 1 fan.

On Thursday in Spielberg, Lando Norris was asked who he considers the favorite for this weekend...

Lando Norris: "I have no idea, but it's definitely not us. We are far from the leaders in terms of speed and efficiency. It's clear that Ferrari and Mercedes are well ahead. I was lucky to get on the podium in Barcelona. Lucky in that they didn't maximize their performance, and like us, they also had retirements. We are ready to take advantage of any mistake from any of the leaders, but that's the most we can hope for at the moment. And we will be ready this weekend too.

How many updates do we need to compete with the leaders? One definitely won't be enough. We need three, four, five, but it depends on the situation. Sometimes we implement things little by little, sometimes we try our hardest to make everything work, as this is a new philosophy.

We are two to three months behind – it's not just one update, it's a whole set of measures, so I don't think we will be the fastest anytime soon. I hope that in the next three, four, five months we can catch up and reduce the gap.

The team is doing everything possible for this. Everyone is excited and motivated because we know it's possible. We are three months behind, and that's a serious problem, but everyone at McLaren knows we can do it, and we are determined to make it happen.

Lewis's victory in Barcelona? You know, I've followed his performances since childhood. And the fact that I shared the podium with him in Barcelona...

I remember him standing on the top step of the podium in 2007 when I just started watching Formula 1, and now, 19 years later, I feel the same emotions. For me, it's something special. I am still a Formula 1 fan.

I love being part of the racing, but I still remain a fan, and that's great! I have great respect for his achievements; during this time he has become a seven-time world champion – that's incredible.

I am happy to share the podium with one of the best drivers in history, to see how he overcomes difficulties, how well he performs this year. I think many are happy about this."
