Pirelli is confident that the one pit stop strategy is faster.

Pirelli tire manufacturers congratulated Kimi Antonelli on his Saturday achievements – the Mercedes driver, who is leading the individual standings of the World Championship, first won the sprint and then the main qualification of the season. The pole position prize was presented to him by Maduka Okoye, a Nigerian footballer, goalkeeper of the Nigerian national team and the Italian club Udinese.

Dario Marrafruschi, director of Pirelli Motorsport: β€œThe tires of all compounds available to the teams are quite suitable for use in tomorrow's race, and this should be taken into account when planning tactics.

Overall, the levels of degradation observed today were lower than expected, partly due to how energy is managed in modern Formula 1 cars. In this regard, our calculations indicate that a one-stop strategy will allow covering the distance 13 seconds faster than the two-stop option.

Most teams used Medium tires in the sprint, and we also expect that the C2 compound will be the main choice for the start of the Grand Prix. The yellow-marked tires performed steadily and effectively and can provide good tactical flexibility in case the race is neutralized.

The fastest tactical option suggests using these tires in the initial phase of the race and switching to hard tires between laps 24 and 30.

An alternative could be a strategy starting on Medium and switching to Soft with a pit stop between laps 29 and 35. Other options are also possible – starting on hard tires and then switching to Medium or starting on Soft and finishing on Hard.”
